The Pop Blitz, Thanksgiving Edition!
Hey there Popsters! The leaves are falling, the turkeys are deep frying and the Blitz is back! We realize it’s been awhile but hey, better late than never, right? Alright, enough with the yada, yada, yada, let’s get the party started!!*
• New Trailer for OZ: The Great and Powerful
Our jury is still out on this one. Yes, it’s directed by the man who brought us Spiderman 1 and 2 but, unfortunately, it’s also the guy who gave us Spiderman 3 and it remains to be seen which of his personalities showed up to direct this one.
Many attempts have been made to revisit the land of OZ since 1939 and, so far, the results have not been good. No doubt the monster success of the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, etc..have inspired the suits at the big studios to take another look at Frank L. Baum’s classic series and, it’s certainly possible that a new generation not quite as familiar with MGM’s most indelible film, might be more receptive to this new take on an old story, I suppose time and box office numbers will tell.
2013 will return us to OZ not once but actually twice as the animated Dorothy of Oz is due to open later next year as well.

• Coolness of the Week
Don’t bother looking for this one at your local dealership, this baby is homemade! Time will tell if the fan community will be answering to the House of Mouse when it comes to such things in the future, which brings us to our next story……
• It’s a Small World in a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Much has been made recently online regarding the purchase of George Lucas’ Star Wars properties by Disney, some people seem opposed to the idea, as if the house of the mouse could do any more damage than Lucas already has in the last two decades! We’re, of course, in the “Han shot first” camp and think that, amazing as it may seem, Disney is really our only hope.
This cute vid surfaced online last week, it’s not the best of it’s kind we’ve seen but….well, what can we say? We’ve always been suckers for any young lady in a Princess Lea costume, gold bikini or otherwise.

• Forget the Turkey
Paul McCartney is just one of many backseat nannies suggesting you skip the turkey this holiday season and go for something different, something tells me the preachiest vegans out there wouldn’t go for this either but….alright, who are we kidding? We were just looking for an excuse to include this stupid commercial in our Blitz today and this was the best idea we could come up with, this is why they pay us the big bucks.

• Stinkier than Thanksgiving leftovers in January!
As long as we’re talking turkey day, we would be remiss if we did not include this latest disaster in our mix today, hopefully you’re watching this BEFORE you eat!
• Johnny Cash’s Thanksgiving
We thought it only fair to include this clip today to help clear your pallet from the extreme distaste of that last video, enjoy!

• How I Met Your Les Miserables?
There is no other flick we’re anticipating more this season than the big screen adaptation of our all time favorite Broadway musical Les Miserables, opening in the U.S. on Christmas Day. While surfing the net recently we came across this bit of pop culture fun, if you know Les Miz at all you’ll appreciate this, prepare to LOL.

• If David Lynch directed a Danny Kaye biopic….
….It might look a lot like this. (we ♥ Pogo!)

• PopCast Doomsday: The Last Mix?
Yes, it’s true, it’s been a few weeks since our last PopCast, life happens…or doesn’t depending on which calendar you’re looking at this year. We actually recorded this mix a few weeks ago and have been procrastinating a bit, probably not a good idea when we’re talking about the END OF THE WORLD!!!
• The 7th Sign?
It may or not be the end of the world next month and, likewise, it may or not be the end of the Twinkies and Ho-Hos. Haven’t they always said the Twinkie could survive an apocalypse? I’m so confused! Either way, we thought this would be a good excuse for including a little flashback today, mmmmm, enjoy!
